Time and time again, I see folks posting on social media about how they are so sad because they are single. Time and time again, I want to smack them upside the head. I don’t know how many times people need to hear it, but you shouldn’t base your whole of happiness around having a partner. This is not the end game goal here. The end game goal is to be the best you possible with the best life possible. You’d be surprised just how many of the things you think will help you achieve that goal actually do not!

A study done by Lucas et al. 2003 showed a stunning fact – marriage does not increase happiness long term. Compared to happiness levels pre-marriage and after, happiness levels only increased for 1-2 years, and then dropped back down to where they were before marriage. This tells us a lot.

First – It is vital that we ensure we have a good happiness baseline before a relationship or marriage. We want to go into it as happy as possible so that way our relationship is more enjoyable and more healthy. This is also very valuable because if the relationship ends, we still walk away with a good baseline of happiness in life. We all know that relationships often aren’t forever. If you are happy person before your relationship, you will be a happy person if it ends. If you are an unhappy person who ties their happiness onto their relationship, the blow will be much harder if it ends.

Second – We really, REALLY need to stop expecting a relationship to “fix” us or magically make our lives amazing. A relationship should be viewed as icing on the cake. Your life should already be an delicious cake before you get into a relationship. It should be something you enjoy for the most part and have a lot of happiness with as it is. That way, when you meet someone special, it’s just an added bonus! You already have a life that you are happy in, now you get to add some extra goodness on top.

A relationship will not fix your issues. If you are depressed and miserable before it, you will take that into your relationship. You bring your issues into a relationship, the relationship does not magically make them all go away. This means you really need to take care of your issues before getting involved with someone. Otherwise you will be sorely disappointed when your relationship doesn’t fix everything, and you will also hurt your partner as well. That is very unfair of you to do. Fix yourself up before getting involved with another person. While none of us are perfect, we most certainly can work to be our best before getting involved with another human being.

And to really hit that message home – people are really turned off by those who don’t have their lives together, people who are an emotional mess, people who are extremely unhealthy. It’s not an attractive quality for someone who is working to improve themselves and their lives daily, and who strives to live a happy life. If you want a healthy partner, be a healthy person.

Third – Stop dumping all the responsibility for your happiness onto someone else. There is one person in particular that comes to mind because she is ALWAYS posting things on social media about her man. Things that put a ton of pressure on him, things that come off a jealous and petty, things that are very demanding. It is not you partner’s job to make you happy, nor is it the job of anyone else you know. It is YOUR job. Yes, that sucks and it’s really hard to do sometimes. There are days I want someone to swoop in and fix all my problems. Guess what? They aren’t going to! That’s my job to do.

A partner should ADD to your happiness, not be expected to provide all of it. You need to find ways to create happiness in your life. It is not up to anyone else but you to make you happy. You will end up with a very miserable partner if you continue to dump all the responsibility for your happiness on them, and more than likely they will leave you. A relationship is a partnership where two decently healthy people decide to make something of life together. They commit to being the best they can and making life the best they can. It’s a team – it’s not a dictatorship. Sorry, but you’ll have to dump the throne and the palm leaves!

So, how can you find more happiness? Here are some ways!

  • Start a gratitude journal. At the end of each day, write down a few things you are grateful for out of the day. If you have a hard time finding something, start off with writing one thing down each day. The more you do this, the more you will change your mind to pick up on the positive of situations instead of the negative. This is changing your perspective on situations and your outlook on life.
  • Write thank you notes. This seems silly in our day and age but it makes a big difference in your attitude! You can write physical thank you notes, send emails, or shoot someone a message on social media. What you are wanting to accomplish is setting your mind to pick up on the good in the people around you. When someone gives you a ride when your car broke down. When you were sick and a friend brings you soup. When someone gives you a special gift. Send them a little note to tell them that you appreciate what they did for you. Not only will it increase your happiness, but it will make the other person feel good as well! We live in a world where people aren’t appreciative as much so it will stand out to those who show you kindness.
  • Find something good in your hard situations. This is another difficult one especially if you are struggling right now. Life changes constantly and we experience many different seasons, some of which are harder than others. The goal is to find the positive in even the bleakest situations. Not only does it help you have a more positive outlook, but it also gives you more strength to keep going during tough times. When you find something positive in a situation, not all hope is lost because you were able to find good in it. This empowers you to keep moving forward.
  • Take time for you. We fill life with things that take up our time and energy, and we often forget about our own emotional needs. Set aside time for yourself daily or weekly so that you can take a little breather and recharge. Do something just for you that will relax you and help you drop off some of the stress you carry. Don’t feel guilty about telling people you aren’t available during this time! You cannot be there for others every single second, and you’re of no use to others if you are worn out and burnt out. You are important so take care of yourself!
  • Exercise. I am sure many of you are groaning while reading this. Exercise, really? Yes really! It releases endorphins which in turn increase your happiness. Even if you just go take a short walk, do SOMETHING physical. Get up and get moving daily. Not only will it make you happier, but it improves your physical health. Being healthy improves your life all around.
  • Dive into hobbies and interests that you enjoy. Do you like painting? Take a group painting class or just practice your skills at home. Do you love comics? Meet up with a group of comic fans or just spend some time browsing a comic book shop. You can find ways to enjoy these activities around others or by yourself, you just have to get creative. Having things you deeply enjoy doing will increase your happiness and it helps you create a life you enjoy living. We are wanting to have happy lives as much as possible. This is a good way to create that in your world!

Recipe – Mango Kale Madness Smoothie

Here is another smoothie recipe for you using 310 Nutrition shake powder! As with all my smoothie recipes, you can use any powder you would like in it including weight loss and protein powders.

I made this one for my breakfast shake today. It’s a very yummy blend! It’s another simple recipe because the last thing anyone needs is a complicated recipe to make the process harder! (^.^)

1/2 cup of cottage cheese
1 scoop of 310 Nutrition powder (I used Salted Caramel)
1 cup of frozen mango chunks
1/2 cup of frozen kale
2 cups of water

Blend and enjoy!

Seriously, it’s just that simple. I would recommend keeping cottage cheese or yogurt on hand for your smoothies. It adds healthy calories to them as well as thickening them up a bit. I use plain yogurt to avoid the extra sugars in the fruit filled ones. Look for organic if you can, if not it’s okay! Use what you can afford to get. (^.^)

The Salted Caramel is really good when you mix things in with it! I found it too sweet mixed with just almond milk or water. The addition of non sweet things like yogurt and the frozen veggies help mellow out the sweetness.

Please understand these products are made slightly sweeter because that is how the general population eats. We’ve become way too used to overly sweetened foods as a society! Due to that, companies who make healthy shake mixes have to make things a bit sweeter because if they didn’t, everyone would complain they are too bland….

With any shake mix, do what you can to tweak the recipes before you give up on it!

Review – Poshbox Spring Box 2017

As though of you who follow my posts know, I like getting treats for myself occasionally. I spent so much time for many years sacrificing for others and putting my needs on the back burner. And it burnt me out and drained me! Since the end of 2016 I decided to make a lot of changes in my life. I am very happy with those decisions! One of which was to do a little bit more for ME.

We cannot give back and do a lot when we are sucked dry, drained, and burnt out. That’s just a fact. You have to take time to recharge, replenish, and rejuvenate YOU. That can come is a multitude of forms depending on each person, so find what works best for YOU and do it! Our families, friends, communities, groups, activities, organizations, commitments, etc. need us to be healthy and doing well. Why? Because when we are, we are giving our 100% because we are in a good place! When you let yourself get sucked down to the bone, you can’t give anywhere close to 100% because YOU are not anywhere near 100%.

You have to take care of you to be the best you possible. It’s not the same as being selfish or self-absorbed, it’s making sure you are doing what you need on all levels – emotional, physical, health wise, mental, spiritual. You need to put yourself as a priority and take care of you.

One of the ways I decided to pamper myself was with Poshbox. I recently started using 310 Nutrition and I kept hearing from ladies in the group how awesome their Spring Poshbox was so I decided to give it a try! Salted Caramel seems to be the favorite flavor of A LOT of people who use 310 and that was included in the Spring box, which was an extra motivator for me.

Let’s start off with the 310 products.

First off you get a bag of Salted Caramel flavor shake powder. It’s not the super big bag, which I didn’t know, but it does have at least 14 servings in it. As I said, this seems to be a preferred flavor in the 310 Facebook Community group.

Next is a 310 shaker cup. If you’ve been a 310 customer for a while, you probably have a few of these! If not, this is a handy thing for them to send with the shake mix. Nothing like getting a product to try without the necessary equipment!

They even threw in a sample of the 310 Detox tea as well! This is a great way to try it out and see if you like it.

Then there are the Kashmere products! I received a full size Kashmere Kollection Purifying Masque and a travel size Luxurious Toning Oil. I would have LOVED full size of both products, but I’m still very thankful for both! (^.^)

Also included were two Beachwood Essential Oils – apricot kernel oil and Bulgarian lavender! I was out of my lavender oil so this was perfect timing. And the Beachwood lavender smells amazing! I like lavender at night especially to help me relax for bed time. The apricot kernel oil is a carrier oil so it’s good to use with other essential oils that may irritate your skin if you put them on it directly. I sometimes have this issue with my tea tree oil.

Another item included is a small size Purely Wrinkle Free clothing spray that you just spray on clothes to remove wrinkles without ironing. This is handy for those who don’t have the time or desire to iron. The small size is also small enough to fit in a bag on the go in case you need to de-wrinkle while you’re out.

And the last item is Hydroderm Triple Effects Eye Serum. This is a very tiny bottle. I thought they skimped by giving me another travel size until I looked up the price. This 10ml bottle is $40 to $60 normally!

Recipe – Tropical Green Smoothie

This morning I went outside and at 8am it was already HOT. This week we are having a heat wave so I thought a smoothie mix would be a really nice treat!

I used my 310 Nutrition Salted Caramel shake mix but this recipe can be used with any powder! You can use a nutritional powder, a protein powder, a weight loss powder, etc. Just add one serving of your powder to the mix and enjoy! (^.^)


-1 cup of water
-1 can of pineapple juice 6oz
-1 organic Greek peach yogurt 3.5oz
-1/2 cup frozen spinach
-1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
-1 cup of ice
-1 scoop of Salted Caramel 310 Nutrition shake powder

I blended this all up in my Ninja Master Prep blender and it was ready to serve! This made 2 and 1/2 tall glasses full of smoothie for me! I found the taste to be even better than expected, especially since I found the Salted Caramel to be a little too sweet for my taste by itself. This mix was REALLY good and not overly sweet! On top of that, I couldn’t taste the spinach at all.

I added up the calories and it has 378 according to MyFitnessPal. Not a bad morning breakfast! I had to force myself to drink all of it because I felt very full long before I got through the whole thing. I do try to drink it all just to ensure that I get all the calories my body needs for the morning.

Recipe – Watermelon Cucumber Alcoholic Lemonade

Here’s a quick fun drink recipe for you! (^.^)

This Watermelon Cucumber Lemonade IS alcoholic so it’s meant for the 21+ crowd!

I put 20 oz of water in a glass mason jar. I mixed in one packet (1 serving) of 310 Lemonade into the water. Then I blended up cucumber slices and added 1/2 cup of the cucumber puree to the jar. Next I added a shot of watermelon vodka to the jar. I put the lid on, and shook it up really well! Lastly, I added 6 ice cubes to it to keep it cool while I sipped on it. And the final touch – my stainless steel straw which I *LOVE*! They are AMAZING for cutting down on plastic use and waste!

This recipe was adapted from my bartender friend who makes hers with regular store lemonade. I had 310 Lemonade sample packets I was waiting to try, so I figured I’d use them in this recipe!

You can use slices of cucumber if you don’t want cucumber puree chunks in yours. I like the flavor and the cucumber bits in mine so I blended it. (^.^)

You can add however much vodka you want, just remember that Smirnoff Watermelon Vodka has 65 calories per shot in case you are watching your calorie count! As the recipe is shown, the calories are approximately 90 per drink.

Recipe – Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Shake

My 310 Nutrition Sample Starter Pack arrived yesterday! I had already had my daily shake so I patiently waited for today to try a new flavor out. This morning I tried the chocolate and boy am I in love! I like it way better than the Vanilla Chai flavor. Keep in mind, taste is subjective. I am not trying to tell you one flavor is bad and one is good, I’m just sharing my preferences. (^.^)

I mixed up a simple recipe this morning to try my chocolate shake in. I added one 8oz cup of coffee to my blender, 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of So Delicious Dairy Free Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl ice cream, and one scoop of chocolate 310 Nutrition powder. I blended it all up and it came out super tasty! Like my last shake recipe, this one also filled up 2 tall drinking glasses for me. They were so good that I chugged them both right away!

This recipe can be used with any powder! You can use a nutritional powder, a protein powder, a weight loss powder, etc. Just add one serving of your powder to the mix and enjoy! (^.^) I would recommend a non-fruity powder with this recipe though, as the ice cream is a chocolate peanut butter flavor that might not mix well with some fruity flavors.

Recipe – Pineapple Banana Cream Shake

I decided to join the 310 Nutrition Community on Facebook because it’s always great to have a community with others who are trying to be healthy! One thing I’ve picked up on really quick is that making your shakes into something fun can help a lot! Recipes are shared daily and it’s been really fun to see all the combos people create. (^.^)

This recipe is one I created this morning and I’m sharing it in the group as well. I was thinking of things I could do to help make the Vanilla Chai flavor more enjoyable for me until the other flavors arrive. I knew I had a few small cans of pineapple juice in the fridge so I figured I’d add that and go from there! Low and behold, I had some Arctic Zero Banana Pudding in my freezer that needed to be used. Arctic Zero is not my favorite brand as I find their ice cream to be hard and not taste that great. I figured putting it in a smoothie would probably be the best way to get it gone.

I mixed one scoop of 310 Nutrition Vanilla Chai with 1 small can of pineapple juice, 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of Arctic Zero Banana Pudding ice cream in my Ninja blender. It made 2 tall glasses full for me, and I drank them one after the other to get really full and see how long that fullness will last me through the day.

Review – 310 Nutrition Vanilla Chai Shake Mix

I’ve been on the hunt for a good nutritional shake to help me lose a couple pounds as well as staying healthy with my injury. Since my fall, I can no longer do a lot of the things I used to do – including lifting weights. I also cannot do exercises that require me to put any body weight on my hand. Talk about limitations! Over the last year I have gained a few extra pounds due to being waaaay less active after my fall.

I’m thankful it’s only a few pounds now, but I know if I don’t nip it in the butt now, the pounds will slowly keep adding on over time. It’s better to get my weight in control now.

Drink mixes are often gross. Let’s be honest here! It’s really hard to find mixes that taste GOOD. And I still think that perfect product has yet to be invented. In the mean time, we want to find something pretty darn close! Especially if you are using them as meal replacements. No one wants to drink something gross EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Over the years I’ve tried a lot of different brands and types of powders. Green powders, weight lost powders, nutritional powders, protein powders. Each has a need it’s meant to fill and does different things for your body.

This go around we are looking at 310 Nutrition’s Vanilla Chai flavor powder. I stumbled across 310 purely by accident. A friend on Facebook is following a celeb chick and apparently she uses 310. Thanks to Facebook marketing, since my friend liked this woman’s post, it showed up in my feed. The timing was very right though!

I did my homework and compared 310 to other brands. I’m not a lazy consumer so I want to make sure what I’m getting it of value to me and to make sure it’s the best bang for my buck. I compared 310 to Shakeology, Thrive, and Herbalife. I found their products to have the lowest price, even at full price, and a really good ingredient list. To top that off, 310 products are:

– Gluten Free –

I have food intolerances with gluten and dairy topping the list. The fact that this company excluded ALL those possible allergens from it’s products is wonderful! The other brands I looked at couldn’t say the same.

I’m a cheap frugal person. I don’t want to spend a lot on most things. I like to save as much money as possible. Even at $68 a bag, which was the lowest out of all the companies, I still didn’t feel that was a low enough cost for me. Yet again, Facebook intervened (totally creepy by the way…) and started spamming my feed with 310 ads. Apparently if you view something online, Facebook starts stalking you with ads for it.

BUT – I did see a new ad for a sample starter kit for only $9 + shipping. I liked the look of all the stuff in the sample starter pack and felt $9 was worth it to try so many of their products. I didn’t, however, want to pay shipping for it. Frugal remember? I spent a few days mulling over it and looking at 310 stuff online. Turns out they had another deal going as well – 50% off their Vanilla Chai flavor plus a FREE shaker cup. $39 for it instead of $78 was something I could approve up. I decided to combine that deal with my sample starter pack deal and give it a try.

The Vanilla Chai arrived first! I mixed it with 1 cup of cashew milk (60 calories) and 1 cup of water. The Vanilla Chai has 90 calories per scoop, which is one serving.

Survey says – it’s good! It’s a little sweet for my taste, but that’s something I can tweak to work with. I think a plan flavor like regular vanilla or chocolate might be better for me too. Chai is good, but I have to be in the mood for it. Mr. Divine is going to try it as well and he LOVES chai so we’ll see what he thinks!

I felt full after drinking it as well, which was a nice thing. I’m really focusing on stopping my body before I get full with food because if you don’t allow yourself time to digest you will end up overeating. With so may buffet styles food places, it’s no wonder we can’t stop eating!

Conclusion – 310 Nutrition has really low prices on nutritional shakes compared to other similar companies. It seems they are always running some sort of sale as well which is nice! On top of that, if you sign up on their website they give you points for each order you place and you can trade those points in for $ off your next order! The Vanilla Chai is sweet but it seems to mix pretty well and left me feeling very full.
